Meet Dr. Emily Chow
Dr. Emily Chow brings warmth, patience, and a genuine desire to help to every appointment at Eckland Family Dentistry. She treats every patient like family, making decisions based on what’s truly best for your long-term health and wellbeing.
After earning her Biology degree at West Virginia University, Dr. Chow completed her Doctorate in Dental Surgery and gained experience in private practices in West Virginia and Alexandria, V.A., before joining our team in the Pacific Northwest. She is currently advancing her education through the Kois Center, reflecting her commitment to staying current with research-based techniques and modern, evidence-based dentistry.
Listening First, Then Treating
Dr. Chow starts every appointment by listening to understand your concerns and goals. She adapts her approach to what makes you comfortable: some patients want every detail explained, while others prefer a streamlined experience. She works closely with her assistant to establish clear communication with each patient, so by your third or fourth visit, appointments feel easy and predictable.
She always ends appointments by asking, “What questions do you have for me?” to ensure you truly understand your dental health and feel empowered about your care. Her fluency in Mandarin Chinese helps her connect with diverse patients in our community.
Dr. Chow uses advanced diagnostic tools like salivary testing to help you understand why dental issues are happening, not just treat symptoms. Her work includes complex restorative treatments, and she’s passionate about helping patients who’ve lost teeth explore options like dental implants or dentures that restore function and confidence. She also focuses on preventive care, proper development in children, and screens for potential sleep and breathing concerns because she believes in addressing health holistically.
Beyond the Dental Chair
Music has been central to Dr. Chow’s life since childhood. She competed from kindergarten through high school, made All-State orchestra, and dreams of owning a baby grand piano where she can unwind by playing Chopin after long days.
She and her husband share a passion for cars, enjoying modifications and drives together. Her dog Enzo, named after Enzo Ferrari, always greets her when she gets home. At the practice, Dr. Chow creates fun community initiatives like Halloween photo contests with staff pets, charity drives for animal shelters and pediatric hospitals, and creative educational raffles. Her Valentine’s Day promotion, “Do you know who you’re kissing?”, shows how she makes dental education fun and engaging.
